Eastern Testimony

In the first years of the newly formed Eastern Pennsylvania Mennonite Church, Aaron served as editor for their official publication, commonly referred to as The Testimony. During the five years while Aaron was the editor, the testimony went from 8 pages to 12 pages, most of which recorded the news of the fledgling conferring fellowship.

In these five years, Aaron wrote fifty editorials and articles. These are a lasting legacy that reflect how Aaron as well as the brothers who surrounded him met and overcame the challenges of their day. We can gain instruction and inspiration from their example.

The Bible and World Events Many of the world-shaking and world shaping events of the past, present, and future are accurately recorded for us in the Bible. Since "known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world" unfulfilled events that are foretold in the Bible are just as sure to…
The Biblical View of Ordination Commenting on the work of the ministry a widely used Mennonite evangelist of my boyhood days declared in my hearing that "ministers are not made, ministers are born." But the Apostle Paul declared several times, "I was made a minister" (Colossians 1:23; Ephesians 3:…
Warm Weather Warnings Doctors repeatedly warn of the danger of our bodies being overexposed to the sun's rays and/or becoming overheated during the heat waves of the summer months. "Use lemonade—enjoy the shade," they advocate. Spiritually, there are also some warm weather warnings we need to be…
The Three-Office Ministry in Church Organization In recent years, there has been a trend in the church at large toward the single office ministry, rather than the plural-office ministry, as well as a trend toward a single minister for a given congregation. From a purely human reason and…
When Thou Prayest and When Ye Fast Prayer is communicating with God. It is an inseparable part of Christian experience. We get saved by calling on the Name of the Lord. That initial birth cry in New Birth begins the breathing operation between the soul and His God. Prayer then continues to be the…
Spiritual Robots (?) A robot is "a machine that looks like a human being and performs various complex acts of a human being--a mechanism guided by automatic controls." Actually and obviously, there is no such a thing as a spiritual robot. It is for this reason that a question mark appears with…
