MORE DIVORCE IN MISSOURI

Since the beginning of 1974 it is no longer possible to get a divorce in the state of Missouri. A no-fault easy separation is now available and is termed "dissolution of marriage." It is no longer necessary for one party to sue the other party for divorce.

If the partners have not lived together for two or more years, a "dissolution of marriage" is granted at the request of either party without the other one being involved.

If both partners agree to separate, dissolution is granted without question.

All that the court needs in order to grant the dissolution of marriage is to find that "there is no reasonable likelihood that the marriage can be preserved and therefore the marriage is “irretrievably broken."

Some time ago a member of a popular church shared with one of our ministers that her minister, in his marriage formula, asks the bride and groom to promise to live together as long as they love each other.

This all points up again the fact that when we depart from the Divine ideal there is no convenient stopping place.
